The file on Gabe Jackson
Gabe Jackson grew up in Liberty, Mississippi where he attended Amite County High School. He was rated a three-star recruit and the No. 91 overall lineman. He signed with Mississippi State over Southern Mississippi Univeristy. After redshirting his freshman year, Jackson started at left guard and was named an SEC All-Freshman selection by the coaches. He posted 40 knockdown blocks and helped the Bulldogs rush for over 200 yards on seven different occasions.
Jackson picked up where he left off in 2011, being named to the AP All-SEC Second-Team. He started all 13 games at left guard and recorded a team-high 69 knockdowns. Jackson did not give up a sack as a junior or senior. He was named a First-Team All-SEC lineman in his final two collegiate years and named a second-team All-American his senior season.
The Liberty native measured in at 6-foot-3, 336 pounds at the NFL Combine. He bench pressed 225 pounds 30 times. He was considered a consensus top-five guard heading into the draft. The Oakland Raiders selected Jackson with the No. 17 pick in the third round (No. 81 overall).
