The file on Keith McGill
Keith McGill lettered in football, track and basketball at La Mirada High School in La Mirada, California. After taking a year off from football, McGill went to Cerritos Junior College where he was named a First-team All-American safety, all-state and all-conference. He was elected the Northern Conference Defensive Player of the Year. McGill committed to the University of Utah.
McGill played five games (starting one) at free safety for the Utes in 2011. He suffered a season-ending shoulder injury against Arizona State and missed all of the 2012 rehabbing. McGill transitioned to cornerback in 2013 where he was named an Honorable mention All-Pac-12. He recorded 37 tackles and led the conference with 12 pass breakups. He returned his only interception 19 yards for a touchdown against UCLA.
McGill’s explosiveness was on display at the combine with a 39-inch vertical and 129-inch broad jump. The 6-foot-3, 211-pound cornerback ran a 4.51 40 time. The Oakland Raiders selected McGill with the No. 16 pick in the fourth round (No. 116 overall).
