Marshawn Lynch's unsportsmanlike conduct suspension upheld

Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch will miss Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.

His one-game suspension was upseld by appeals officer James Trash -- jointly appointed by the NFL and player's union -- the league announced Tuesday morning. This is no surprise.

Lynch's punishment for unsportsmanlike conduct included making contact with an official and leaving the sidelines to join an on-field fracas during Thursday night's 31-30 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. He tried to play peacemaker and separate Raiders offensive linemen from close friend and fellow Oakland native Marcus Peters, who had just been penalized for a late hit on quarterback Derek Carr. Intent was secondary to the action here.

The suspension was levied Friday and immediately appealed. The appeal hearing occurred Monday, with Peters pleading for mercy on Lynch's behalf. The case didn't work, leaving Lynch out one week without pay.

The suspension will cost the 31-year old a $79,411 game check and a $31,250 per-game roster bonus.

Lynch is eligible to return for a Week 9 contest at Miami.
