No word on future of Raiders offensive coordinator Saunders

ALAMEDA -- Any questions about the future of offensive coordinator Al Saunders were not answered by new Raiders coach Dennis Allen, who has the autonomy to hire his own staff. Not when the most glowing of compliments Allen mustered about Saunders in the news conference announcing his hire was: "Al Saunders is a guy that is under contract with us right now. Again, were exploring all our opportunities, our avenues, excuse me, as far as what we're going to do there."Not exactly the biggest vote of confidence now, is it?

"We're in the process right now really of formulating our whole staff," Allen said. "Right now that process is going extremely well. I'm not going to get into who those guys are right now. There will be a time and place when we make those announcements but we are in the process of formulating our whole staff."Saunders is the lone holdover from Hue Jackson's staff as every other member's contract expired in mid-January, what with Al Davis signing every assistant but Saunders to a one-year deal in anticipation of the NFL lockout last spring and summer. Saunders scouted the Senior Bowl last week in Mobile, Ala.
