Bum knees kept Aaron Curry from all but the two most recent Raiders games this year, and news broke on Twitter that they are likely to be his last with Oakland. The Raiders waived the former first-round draft pick on Tuesday morning.

Curry tweeted Tuesday: "No longer a raider! On to my next venture!"

Shortly after, the team confirmed the news, tweeting, "The Oakland Raiders have waived LB Aaron Curry."

Curry followed up saying: "Yes I will miss the BlackHole and all of RaiderNation! It's been an amazing time in the Bay!"

Curry and his knees were placed on the PUP list at the start of training camp, but the fourth overall from 2009 was able to resume practice on Oct. 17. The team needed to activate him prior to their Nov. 11 game against the Ravens or Curry wouldn't have been able to play for Oakland this season.

Curry, 26, recorded one tackle and one stuff for the Raiders this season. He compiled 46 tackles, three passes defended and two fumble recoveries for the Raiders in 11 games last season after he was acquired for a seventh-round pick in 2012 and a conditional fifth-rounder in 2013.

Curry received stem-cell treatments on both knees earlier this year and said the therapy was "the only thing helping him recover." Still, Curry believes he can still be an effective linebacker.
