Raiders sign tryout trio from rookie minicamp

The Raiders invited several players to their rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis. No jobs were guaranteed.

The roster was at 90, so they'd have to take somebody's spot. Tight end Paul Butler, fullback Henry Poggi and running back Chris Warren beat tough odds, and were signed to the roster on Monday afternoon.

The Raiders released 2017 seventh-round running back Elijah Hood, defensive lineman Joby Saint Fleur and undrafted free agent Nick Sharga in corresponding moves.

Head coach Jon Gruden's looking for a fullback to take some work off Keith Smith, so Poggi should have a real chance to impress for a practice squad spot at least. Warren will join a large mix of rushers, and Butler will fight with undrafted rookie Chris Baugh and 2017 practice squad feature Pharoah Brown for a possible reserve spot.
