Raiders will stay on West Coast for entire preseason slate

The Raiders used to call Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum home. They hosted games there as the Los Angeles Raiders from 1982-1994, after leaving Oakland for the first time.

The Silver and Black have a massive following in Los Angeles, and remain a massive draw in the nation’s second-largest city. That was clear in the 2017 regular-season finale, when Raider Nation took over in Carson against the Chargers.

That was at StubHub! Center, which holds less than 30,000. L.A. Coliseum holds triple that. A preseason game shouldn’t draw a massive sum, but it will offer a chance for L.A. Raiders fans to see their team live.

That game will occur in the preseason’s second week, as part of an exhibition schedule released by the NFL on Wednesday afternoon.

A pair of NFC North opponents sandwich that game, with a preseason finale against Seattle.

Exact dates and times for preseason games will be released at a later date.

Here’s the full preseason slate:

Week 1 (Aug. 9-13): vs Detroit
Week 2 (Aug. 16-20): at L.A. Rams
Week 3 (Aug. 23-26): vs Green Bay
Week 4 (Aug. 30-31): at Seattle

The preseason schedule release is generally a precursor to the regular-season schedule coming out. It was released the week before the NFL Draft last year, and that could happen again this year.

The Rams and Seahawks are on both the preseason and regular-season schedule.

The Raiders will play the AFC West, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh and the L.A. Rams at home. They have given up a home game to play Seattle in London.

The Raiders will play their own division, Cincinnati, Arizona, Miami, Baltimore at the 49ers on the road.
