There's no word yet if Jon Gruden will be the next head coach of the Raiders, but it appears assistant coaches around the league are lining up to join him if he gets the job.
Jets offensive coordinator John Morton would be someone that Gruden would have interest in bringing with him to Oakland, according to The New York Daily News.
The 48-year-old Morton just finished his first season as an NFL offensive coordinator.
Morton has plenty of ties to the Bay Area. He was an Offensive Assistant under Bill Callahan with the Raiders from 2002 through 2004. After stints in college at San Diego, a year with the Saints and a four-year stint with USC, Morton returned to the NFL as the Wide Receivers coach for Jim Harbaugh's 49ers teams.
When Harbaugh was fired by the 49ers following the 2014 season, Morton moved to the Saints.
According to the NYDN, Morton considers Gruden a mentor and the team would not block him from taking to the job with the Raiders.
In Morton's only season with the Jets, they finished 28th in the NFL with 305.3 yards per game and 24th in the league with 18.6 points per game.
