Report: Raiders restructure Seymour, Huff

Two of the more glaring contracts in the Raiders' possession have reportedly undergone some major tweaking this week.As expected.Defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who had a base salary of 7.5 million and a salary cap figure of 14.068, and free safety Michael Huff, who had a base salary of 4 million and a salary cap number of 9.828.75, both had their contracts restructured, according to Mac's Football Blog.REWIND: Which big contracts will Raiders restructure?
Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie did not respond to a message seeking confirmation.But the two moves should save the Raiders, who entered the week more than 20 million over the projected cap, 11.82 million.According to the report, Seymour lowered his 7.5 million to the league minimum of 925,000, "with the remaining 6.575 million converted to a guaranteed roster bonus that will be treated as a signing bonus for salary cap purposes. Seymour's adjusted base salary is fully guaranteed and another season, with a 7.5 million base salary and 7.5 million roster bonus, was tacked onto Seymour's contract to allow the roster bonus to be prorated over the maximum allowable number of years (five)."As such, Seymour's salary cap number for 2012 drops to 8.808 million, though rises from 17.818 to 19.133 million from 2013 through 2015, when Seymour will be 36 years old.Huff, meanwhile, saw his base salary drop to a fully guaranteed 700,000, "with the remaining 3.3 million combined with his 4 million roster bonus to create a guaranteed 7.3 million roster bonus that will be treated like a signing bonus for salary cap purposes. Two additional years with 4 million base salaries and 4 million roster bonuses were added to allow the 2012 guaranteed roster bonus to be prorated over five seasons."Huff, who signed a four-year, 32-million contract extension at the start of last year's training camp that had a 7.315 signing bonus and 685,000 in base salary for last year with base salaries of 4 million and 4 million roster bonuses for 2012, 2013 and 2014, has a new cap number for 2012 of 3.988 million.Other contracts worth keeping an eye on for restructure purposes belong to quarterback Carson Palmer (12.5 million cap number) and linebacker Kamerion Wimbley (11 million).
