Free agent defensive endweakside linebacker Trevor Scott, a sixth-round draft pick of the Raiders out of Buffalo in 2008, has signed with New England, according to numerous reports.Scott, who turns 28 on Aug. 30, reportedly signed a one-year contract with the Patriots.Oakland allowing the relatively inexpensive Scott to walk would seem to be a dubious decision, what with the Raiders in need of pass rushers and Scott showing so much promise early in his career. He wracked up 12 sacks in his first two seasons, including seven in his second year, but only had 1 12 sacks the past two years.
Of course, his blowing out his left knee at Pittsburgh on Nov. 21, 2010 and missing the final six games of that season have not helped matters. And while the 6-feet-5, 255-pound Scott played in 14 games last season, was shut out in the sack department and only had seven tackles for the year.Scott is the fourth Raiders free agent to sign with another team since Tuesday, along with quarterback Jason Campbell (Chicago), receiver Chaz Schilens (New York Jets) and running backspecial teams standout Rock Cartwright (49ers).
