A silver (and black) lining for Raiders?

BOX SCORE

OAKLAND -- Quietly, Brandon Myers has become Carson Palmer's security blanket this season. And the tight end is having a career year, even if he preferred the year was going better for the team.Myers' 14 catches, for a career-best 130 yards, tied a Raiders franchise record. The only other Raiders player to catch 14 passes in a game was Tim Brown, against Jacksonville on Dec. 21, 1997.As is his custom, Myers shies away from media attention, so he was not in the locker room after the game. But his quarterback and coach sang his praises."He's just a good football player," Palmer said. "He makes plays, he gets open, he understands what we're trying to do as an offense and he understands how to get open. He understands defenses, he understands coverages and seems to always kind of find an open spot just naturally."You don't teach just teach that or coach that. You either get it, or you don't. He's got a lot of it."Paul G's Instant Replay: Browns 20, Raiders 17
On the season, Myers has 69 receptions, the most by a Raiders tight end in a season since Todd Christensen had 95 catches in 1986, for 721 yards and four touchdowns. His 69 receptions are also the most by any Raiders player since 2005, when receiver Jerry Porter caught 76 balls.Still, Myers did most of his damage on the Raiders' final drive, when they were down 10 points, catching six passes for 73 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown bullet from Palmer with one second to play. All this from a guy who entered the season with 32 career catches for 250 yards and no touchdowns."Brandon has done a nice job for us in the passing game," said coach Dennis Allen. "Obviously, our quarterback feels comfortable with him. I'm not really looking for silver linings right now. But yeah, he's done a nice job for us."
