The stalemate between the Raiders and outside linebacker Kamerion Wimbley remains as such."No calls either way," Wimbley's agent, Joe Linta, told CSNCalifornia.com in an email. "He has a contract and he'll honor it."But will the Raiders? While Oakland has been creating cap space in advance of Tuesday's 1 p.m. PT deadline by virtue of cuts (Stanford Routt, Chris Johnson, Hiram Eugene and reportedly Kevin Boss) and restructured contracts (Carson Palmer, Richard Seymour, Michael Huff and Aaron Curry), the only way the Raiders could save money on Wimbley would be to either have him take a pay cut or release him.RELATED: Raiders closing in on cap compliance
By Linta's quote, it doesn't sound like his client is about to take a pay cut.Besides, 6.5 million of his 11-million base salary for 2012 is already reportedly guaranteed, with the remaining 4.5 million becoming guaranteed on March 17if he is still on the roster on that date.
Also, Wimbley's entire 11 million base salary for 2013 and 2 million of his 10 million salary for 2014 become guaranteed if he is on the roster come Saturday.RELATED: Cutting Wimbley would save Raiders 17.5M
The Raiders cutting Wimbley before that day would save them between 1.9 million and 4.5 million for 2012 cap purposes, depending on prorations, and 17.5 million going forward.
