SAN JOSE - The SaberCats today announced the additions of DB ChrisRoyal and WR Ed Berry. Berry rejoins San Jose after a stint with the team during training camp.DB CHRIS ROYALRoyal (5-10, 195) joins the SaberCats after spending the start of the 2011season with Kansas City, totaling 13 tackles (12 solo) and three passes defensed in three games for the Command. In 2010, Royal played alongside SaberCats defensive linemen Adam Huebner and Gabe Nyenhuis, where he finished second in the league in interceptions (11) to go along with 69tackles (53 solo).Prior to his time in the AFL, Royal played for Marshall from 2002-05,where he totaled 106 tackles (74 solo), nine interceptions, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, five passes defensed and two forced fumbles while also handling return duties.WR ED BERRYBerry (5-9, 190) most recently played for the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the CFL, before joining San Jose during training camp. A two-year starter at Northern Arizona, Berry played in 22 games (21 starts) leading the team with 75 receptions, 1,075 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns as a senior. A transfer from the College of San Mateo, Berry led the Lumberjacks with 45 receptions and 641 yards, earning All-Big Sky honorable mention honors. At San Mateo, he led the team with 55 receptions for 896 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2007 prior to joining Northern Arizona.Courtesy San Jose SaberCats media services
