Ferriero reassigned to Worcester

SAN JOSE - The Sharks made a roster move on Sunday, reassigning forward Benn Ferriero to their AHL affiliate in Worcester.

Ferriero was recalled by the club on Oct. 20, scoring one goal in four games. It was a big one, though, as he broke a 2-2 tie in his home town of Boston when he scored in the third period. He played in just two games after that.

With Torrey Mitchells injury on the road and the flu bug going through Pavelski and a few others, we kept him maybe a little longer than wed like and he didnt get to play any games, Todd McLellan said.

We expect him to go to Worcester and be the best player there. Thats how he got himself back up here to begin with; he was the best player there.

Ferriero was one of the final roster cuts in the preseason. In 61 career regular season games with the Sharks over parts of three seasons, he has eight goals and seven assists.

Ferriero scored the winning goal in overtime in Game 1 of the 2010 Western Conference semifinals against Detroit. It was his Stanley Cup playoff debut and the night of his 24th birthday.
