ST. PAUL - With his assist on Dan Boyles power play goal at 16:08 of the first period of Tuesday's game in Minnesota, Patrick Marleau recorded his 800th career NHL point.

He added his 801st with a goal in the third period, trying the game at 4-4, before the Sharks fell in a shootout to the Wild, 5-4.

Marleau is one of six active players to score 800 points with just one team, joining Nicklas Lidstrom (Detroit), Daniel Alfredsson (Ottawa), Jarome Iginla (Calgary), Patrik Elias (New Jersey) and Vincent Lecavalier (Tampa Bay).

Its nice to do that. It would have been nice to come in a win," Marleau said. "Those things, you look back later on, but in the heat of the game thats all youre really worried about.

In 1,074 career games over 14 seasons, all with the Sharks, Marleau has 373 goals and 428 assists.
