McDonald on Jacobs: ‘He was being a distraction'

SANTA CLARA – Suspended 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs’ nameplate still hung over his locker at the team’s practice facility on Tuesday.

Jacobs, of course, was nowhere to be seen, after the team announced his suspension without pay for the final three games of the regular season after he complained about his playing time on Twitter and Instagram.

Defensive tackle Ray McDonald reacted to the organization’s decision to cut ties with the little-used running back.

“From the coaching standpoint, they don't want any distractions on the team. He was being a distraction, they felt he was being a distraction, so they felt they needed to do something about it,” McDonald said.

Does he agree with the decision?

“I guess, if he’s not about the team. And the coaches feel that he’s not trying to help the team. They made the right decision.”

Ricky Jean Francois didn’t have much to say about the development.

“All I saw across the screen is he was suspended,” Francois said. “I didn't know why, or anything like that. It was up to the upstairs. I don't got no control on that one.”
