Its looking more and more certain that the Los Angeles Kings are interested in hiring former Sharks head coach Darryl Sutter.

According to L.A. Kings insider Rich Hammond:

The Kings have sought permission from the Calgary Flames to speak with Darryl Sutter as Terry Murrays replacement, a source said Tuesday morning. Sutter left his role as Calgarys general manager last December but remains under contract with the Flames. Theres no indication as to when Sutter might take over.

The Kings are in Boston on Tuesday night led by interim coach John Stevens, who was an assistant under former head coach Terry Murray. Murray was fired on Monday.

Kings general manager Dean Lombardi hired Sutter in 1997, when he was in the same role with the Sharks.

Sutter was the head coach of the Sharks from 1997-2002, compiling a 192-167-75 record with San Jose, before joining the Calgary Flames organization. He was fired by Lombardi on Dec. 1, 2002.
