Sharks piling up the shots on goal

San Jose fired another 37 shots on net in their 2-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night, and are on a somewhat historic run because of it.

It was the Sharks 11th straight game they have registered at least 35 shots on goal, which is the longest streak of its kind by an NHL team since 1983-84, when the Philadelphia Flyers reached 35 shots or more in 12 in a row.

The Sharks register an even 35.0 shots on goal per game, leading the league.

Surprisingly, though, San Jose doesnt have a single player in the top 25 in that stat. Dan Boyle is the closest, as his 134 shots place him in a tie for 26th in the league. Rounding out the top five for the Sharks are Patrick Marleau (127), Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski (123) and Brent Burns (118).

The Sharks are also fifth in the league in shots against, allowing just 28.5. Their 6.5 differential is second in the NHL, trailing only Pittsburgh (7.3).
