Angela Sun Joins CSN California as Oakland A's In-Game Reporter

Sun to Debut this Sunday at 1 p.m. During A’s/Cubs Spring Training Telecast

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – March 10, 2017 – CSN California (@CSNAuthentic) and the Oakland Athletics (@Athletics) today announced that veteran sports broadcaster, investigative journalist and Northern California native Angela Sun (@sunnyangela) has joined the A’s broadcast team as an in-game reporter.

Sun will join the Emmy Award-winning duo of Glen Kuiper and Ray Fosse and former A’s pitcher and color analyst Mark Mulder during home telecasts.  She will make her CSN California debut this Sunday (March 12) at 1 p.m. as the A’s host the World Champion Chicago Cubs in spring training action from Hohokam Stadium.

Sun was the first Asian American female sportscaster to appear on ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, Tennis Channel, Fox Sports Net and NBC.  She hosted the Yahoo! Sports Minute, which became the longest running and #1 daily sports show online.  Sun co-hosted season four of NBC’s American Ninja Warrior and also hosted Foreign in the USA, a travel show that can be seen nationally and in-flight on Delta Airlines. Most recently, she reported for the World Surf League and Fox Sports International from the French Open in Paris.

Sun is an award-winning journalist who directed and executive produced the independent feature documentary, Plastic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garage Patch.  The film received critical praise, won 15 awards worldwide, and has been shown in more than 60 film festivals with wide distribution.  Sun was also a host and correspondent for former Vice President Al Gore’s Emmy Award-winning Current TV, and recently was a TedX speaker in Italy.

Born in Saratoga, Calif., Sun is an active member of the Asian American Journalists Association Sports Task Force, and volunteers with Boarding House Mentors, where she teaches at-risk youth how to surf and snowboard.  She is a graduate of Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, Calif. and the University of California at Los Angeles where she earned her degrees in Sociology and Communications.
