After 10 years in the NBA, Darren Collison has decided to call it a career.

The former Kings point guard announced his retirement from the league in a blog on The Undefeated's website Friday night.

"Basketball has been my life since I was a child. I could never imagine finding anything that brings me more joy than I get from playing the game. While I still love basketball, I know there is something more important, which is my family and my faith. I am one of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and my faith means everything to me. I receive so much joy from volunteering to help others and participate in a worldwide ministry. The joy I feel is unmatched.

With that being said, I have decided to retire from the NBA."

In 187 games over three seasons with the Kings, Collison averaged 14.2 points and 4.7 assists.

The 31-year-old also spent time with the Indiana Pacers, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers and the New Orleans Hornets.

Collison, who made $10 million in each of the past two seasons with the Pacers, was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent. Instead, he's riding off into the sunset.
