It was in and outand then off for the Warriors on New Years Day.The Warriors practiced briefly at the teams downtown Oakland facilityfor just 30 minutesbefore departing for Portland, where they will play the Blazers tomorrow night at the Rose Garden. The Warriors may have been plagued by injuries for much of the season, but theyve got nothing on the Blazers. Portland will be without Greg Oden (left knee), Joel Przybilla (right knee), Rudy Fernandez (sciatic pain), Nicolas Batum (right shoulder) and Steve Blake (pneumonia). In addition, LaMarcus Aldridge is unlikely to because of a left ankle injury. The Warriors beat the Blazers 108-94 on Nov. 20 at Oracle Arena. In that game, Warriors guard Monta Ellis did a nice job on Brandon Roy, who finished with 17 points on 6-for-17 shooting.Nelson purposefully avoided talking about Ellis' performance against Portland, perhaps hoping not to jinx what will be another tough defensive assignment.Cant think about what we did last game, Ellis said. Weve got to focus on this game. Just got to go out and play the way we did the first game. The Warriors (9-22) have been playing better of late, coinciding with the return of centers Ronny Turiaf and Andris Biedrins. The Warriors beat Phoenix and Boston before losing a six-point game to the Lakers in L.A.
