Clips match Warriors' offer for Jordan

OAKLANDThe Clippers matched the Warriors four-year, 43 million offer sheet on Monday for DeAndre Jordan, ensuring that the restricted free-agent center will remain in Los Angeles. The Warriors had hoped to acquire Jordan, a young and athletic center, and have him man the center position along with Andris Biedrins. The Warriors have now tried and failed two times when its come to finding more size for their roster. A week ago, Tyson Chandler spurned the Warriors 60-plus million offer for four years and instead signed with the New York Knicks.Warrirors owner Joe Lacob and general manager Larry Riley both expressed disappointment on Monday but still remained hopeful the team can bolster its frontcourt. We still feel like we can add a quality player up front, Riley said. Weve have plans in place in case this happened. It appears as though the Warriors will miss out on the four biggest names in the frontcourt free agent pool: Chandler, Jordan Marc Gasol and Nene. The Rockets signed Gasol to an offer sheet, but Memphis is expected to match for Gasol. As far as Nene is concerned, the Warriors have turned their attention elsewhere. Internally they dont believe hes the best fit of the four to play alongside starting power forward David Lee.One silver lining to the Clippers matching for Jordan so quicklythey had three days but used less than oneis that now rookies Klay Thompson and Jeremy Tyler can begin practicing with the team. Both those players had gone unsigned because the Warriors put all their financial resources into trying to sign Jordan.
