Doc Rivers: With Chris Paul gone, Clippers will ‘have ball movement'

Chris Paul no longer plays for the Clippers.

So what will be the biggest difference for the Clippers next season in terms of style of play?

"We'll have ball movement, you know," Rivers told the media on Tuesday. "That's one of the things, for the most part, that I've always preached.

"With Chris' skill you wanted to take advantage of what he could do, and he was a guy that needed the ball to make plays. And he did it so well, you kind of changed to do that."

During the 2016-17 regular season, the Clippers were 13th in passes per game, 15th in assists, 23rd in secondary assists and 25th in potential assists.

Additionally, the Clippers ran the second most isolation plays (10.6 percent of the time).

Paul finished eighth in touches (86.2) and seventh in time of possession (7.2 minutes).

Now that the nine-time All-Star is in Houston, the Clippers will play differently.

"If you look at my work historically, it's been more of a ball movement, cut basketball team," Rivers said. "And that's what we're gonna get back to doing."
