The Nike vs Under Armour debate won't go away.
But now, Kevin Durant has done his best to put the so-called issue to rest.
In a recent interview with ESPN's Rachel Nichols, the forward said that his recent conversation with Stephen Curry about the forward's comments in regards to Nikes versus Under Armours had nothing to do with patching anything up.
When asked if there was anything he would have differently, Durant chuckled and said, 'no. We were never in a bad place when I said it. So, we didn't have to patch anything up.
"We were never in a bad place…didn’t have to patch anything up…everybody trying to figure out a way to break us up" -- #kd with #RachelNichols on the #UnderArmour comment and his subsequent chat with #StephCurry about it. #DubNation #GSW #Warriors #NBA 👌💛💙 #KevinDurant #Durant #StephenCurry #Nike #UA #NIKExNBA (🎥: #ESPN https://youtu.be/s3HGwlhGFh4)
Me and Steph -- he had a conversation with me about it. And I understood. We moved on."
The 2017 Finals MVP added: "We're the Warriors. Everybody is trying to figure out a way to break us up. So, they're going to use that too."
Last Sunday, Curry acknowledged that he "had a conversation" with Durant about what Durant said.
“This is nothing that is going to put a wrench in the locker room,” Curry told Scott Fowler of The Charlotte Observer. "I told him that he has a certain opinion based on his experience growing up in the Nike business. What that means when it comes to the competition among shoe brands and universities and the whole grassroots system and whatnot – he’s entitled to that opinion obviously.
"But when it comes to what I’m trying to do with Under Armour, and what the Curry brand means and what Under Armour basketball means, that statement does not ring true at all.”
Fowler asked Curry if Durant's comments angered the two-time MVP.
“Nah ... I understand how what we do and the team that we are and the success we’ve had, no matter what anybody says it’s going to be blowing up ... especially when it’s the opportunity to make it look (controversial).
"Like I said, it’s nothing that’s going to break up the locker room.”
