Doc Rivers and the Clippers tried to sign Kevin Durant last summer, but Durant chose to sign with the Warriors.
"It is tough when you see a guy join a team -- in Durant’s case what he did this year," Rivers said Tuesday on ESPN's Mike & Mike. "That was tough for anybody, anybody’s that’s competitive, to watch. He lost, and then he joined. Having said that, it was his choice, I have no problem with him, but it’s something from a competitive standpoint, you would think you wouldn’t do."
A few weeks after Durant made his decision, Rivers said the Clippers "were in the Top 3 at the very end."

He also said the Clippers match up well with the Warriors.
During the regular season, the Warriors beat the Clippers all four times -- by 17, 46, 13, and 10 points.
It would have been Golden State vs Los Angeles in the Western Conference Semifinals but the Clippers dropped Game 7 at home to the Jazz.
And now the Warriors are four wins away from claiming a second title in three seasons.

"I have no problem with him (Durant) doing it, it’s just something from a competitive standpoint, for me, I guess when I played it would have been tough for me to join Detroit," Rivers added. "Having said that, he has the ability to do it, guys are doing it, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
