Back in mid-December, Steph Curry made it known that he would like to be part of a group of celebrites to put a bid in on the soon-to-be-for-sale Carolina Panthers.

There hasn't been much chatter since. But on Friday night, Curry provided an update.

Tracked down by TMZ Sports in Los Angeles, Curry was asked if he was any closer to buying the Panthers.

"Closer than we were yesterday, that's for sure," told the cameraman.

"No, this is a real thing. So hopefully it happens sooner than later," Curry said.

So has Curry spoken recently to musician Diddy, who spearheaded the idea on Twitter back in December?

"I talked to Diddy for sure. But we'll kinda let the whole thing play out. Lotta work to do," Curry said.

On December 17, Panthers owner and founder Jerry Richardson announced that he is putting the team up for sale in light of allegations of workplace misconduct.

Curry grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and regularly returns home for Panthers games.
