Vince Carter ‘open' to joining Warriors; Curry comments on Instagram

Vince Carter is 40 years old.

But he is not ready to hang 'em up.

Would he consider signing with a championship contender like the Warriors?

"I'm open for it," Carter said on ESPN's The Jump on Wednesday. "I want to win. I want to play and I want to do somewhat what Kevin Durant did. I want to do for my team. I want to go out there and play and provide and show that I can still play this game."

Carter averaged 8.0 points and 3.1 rebounds over 24.6 minutes per game with the Grizzlies last season.

He started 15 contests and shot just under 38 percent from distance.

The eight-time All-Star just finished a 3-year deal worth over $12.2 million.

"I'm just not one to just go to a team and ride the coattails," Carter explained. "You can say how old I am, whatever, whatever. I proved that I can still play in this league. I don't want to go sit on the bench and be a cheerleader ... I want to contribute."

Carter was teammates with Steph Curry's father, Dell, for three seasons in Toronto (1999-00 to 2001-2002)

The Instagram account "warriorstalk" posted a picture of Carter and Curry's father, Dell, walking off the court together.

And below that picture -- a shot of Carter and Steph Curry embracing after a Warriors-Grizzlies game.

Steph Curry not only "liked" the post, but he also left a comment:

"Me likey!"

The Warriors drafted Carter with the 5th overall pick in 1998 but traded him to Toronto for Antawn Jamison, who went 4th overall.
