Warriors President Rick Welts: First year at Chase Center ‘going to be a music lover's dream'

The Warriors will play their first regular-season game at Chase Center in October 2019.

But the new arena is going to host its first event before Steph Curry and his teammates take the floor.

Chase Center is going to be way more than just a place where basketball games are played.

And as Warriors President Rick Welts said on KNBR 680 recently:

"What I wish I could convey, because there's really no way I could do it, is the excitement in the artist community about the opening of Chase Center. It is absolutely extraordinary the incoming interest in people who throughout their music careers have never had the chance to play San Francisco.

"We're probably still a few months away from starting to announce the lineup of acts that will open the building. But this first year is going to be a music lover's dream. Every genre, every major artist that's on tour, everybody who has always wanted to play San Francisco is finally going to get that opportunity.

"And I'm equally excited for that as I am for what the Warriors are gonna have as a new home ... we're in the business of creating memories -- that's what this is all about."

The arena is scheduled to host over 200 events per year.
