While Stephen Jackson was at the Minneapolis Airport, waiting to catch a flight to the Bay Area to join his new team, the Warriors traded him to the San Antonio Spurs for Richard Jefferson.And perhaps more important, the Warriors will also receive the San Antonio Spurs first-round pick, according to a source. It is unclear at this time if there are any protections or conditions on that pick.The Warriors had acquired Jackson on Tuesday as part of the Monta Ellis-Andrew Bogut trade, and Jackson was set to arrive in Oakland late Thursday afternoon to take his physical.While waiting on his flight to the Bay Area, Jackson said he was excited about returning to the Warriors and thought the team could still make a push for the Western Conference playoffs.Instead, Jackson is a lock to play in the postseasononly for San Antonio.Jefferson has a contract that runs through the 2014 season, which means the Warriors took on one additional year of salary in the exchange for Jackson. However, its obvious their desire to secure a first-pick outweighed the extra year.Warriors general manager Larry Riley said on Wednesday that the Warriors were looking to acquire a pick in the first round, but didnt think the chances were likely to do so.
