A slew fights were recently announced for UFC 149, scheduled for July 7 in Las Vegas.
Michael Bisping vs. Tim Boetsch, Renan Barao vs. Jeff Hougland and Cung Le vs. Rich Franklin were all officially added to the card. Also, Tito Ortiz announced on Twitter Monday night that he will meet Forrest Griffin for a third time in what could end up being "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy's" final UFC fight.
Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber III will headline the event, which will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, for the UFC bantamweight title.
Bisping (22-4) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Chael Sonnen at UFC on FOX 2, while Boetsch most recently pulled off one of the best comebacks in UFC history when he finished Yushin Okami in the third round of their UFC 144 fight after clearly losing the first two rounds. The 15-4 Boetsch will enter the bout a perfect 3-0 as a middleweight.
This will mark Franklin's first fight at 185 pounds since April 2008. "Ace" hasn't competed since UFC 126 when he lost a unanimous decision to Forrest Griffin. Franklin (28-6, 1 NC) recently had to pull out of a scheduled UFC 133 bout due to a shoulder injury. He hasn't fought since then due to shoulder surgery he had in October. Le (7-2) will look to pick up his first UFC win after losing via second-round TKO to Wanderlei Silva at UFC 139.
Barao (28-1, 1 NC) will enter UFC 148 riding a 28-fight winning streak, and a win over Hougland could very well secure the Brazilian's spot as the bantamweight division's No. 1 contender. Hougland (10-4) has won his last nine fights in a row.
UFC 148's main card will air live on pay-per-view.
