Another Rivers on the way?

We're less than two hours from the NBA Draft, meaning I'm pretty limited in what I can say. After all, the longer I take to post this, the more likely it will be out of date. The more likely that the Celtics that you knew when you started reading this sentence will no longer exist.

If you follow our Celtics Insider A. Sherrod Blakely on Twitter, and by God I hope you do, then you know that Danny Ainge and company are currently burning up the phone lines and have multiple trade scenarios floating in the air. They're still looking to move up into the lottery. They're also looking to possibly trade for OJ Mayo or Josh Smith.

But juiciest rumor of them all comes courtesy of Sports Illustrated's Sam Amick:

"Sources say Boston's push to move into the lottery is partly driven by a desire to land Duke's Austin Rivers, son of Cs coach Doc Rivers. Celtics have the No. 21 and No. 22 picks."

Now, I know a lot of people have automatically written off trading for Austin Rivers as an outright disaster. But I don't think it's an awful idea. I don't think it's impossible for Doc to coach his son and be successful at the same time. Will it be easy? No. But what situation ever is.

I'm not going to get to into right now, because we're still only talking about a rumor, and if it actually happens there will be PLENTY of time to analyze. But it's way too easy to say that it could never work. Doing so would be to give such little credit to how much Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers care about the Celtics, and how much thought and discussion would have to happen before making a move like this. But whatever, maybe we'll talk about this tomorrow. Or maybe Austin will go to New Orleans and we'll never talk about this again (at least not until he's a free agent).

But for now, just sit back and enjoy the rumors, enjoy the speculation and most of all, enjoy the draft.

See everyone tomorrow.
