Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich may get the chance to play professional football, after all.

The cancer survivor wasn't selected in last week's National Football League draft, but he was chosen Monday night in the 10th round of the United Football League draft by the Omaha Nighthawks.

Once a player signs a UFL contract he is bound to the team for the entire season. Players selected may wait to see what happens with the National Football League work stoppage before signing with the UFL.

Nighthawks coach Joe Moglia posted on Twitter about Herzlich.

"Mark Herzlich is a special person and we feel a special football player," he tweeted. "We would like to offer Mark the opportunity to showcase his talents.

"He fits really well into what our defensive coach plans to do on defense and we will do everything we can to get him to come to Omaha."
