Bergeron named NHL First Star of the Month

Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron has been named NHL's First Star for the month of January."I think it's well deserved," said Julien. "He's a guythat often flies under the radar, because he's one of those greattwo-way players that doesn't get the acknowledgment that maybe a lot ofhighly-skilled, one-dimensional players will get. But he was able to doeverything; score some goals, get some points, play great at the otherend of the ice. It was nice to see him get that recognition, because hehad an outstanding month."Begeron opened the first month of the new year with league leading 17 points with 8 goals and 9 assists. He also posted a 13 in 14 games helping the Bruins to improve their record to 28-15-7. Among the many highlights of the month for Bergeron, the most impressivefeatwas his streak of 4 consecutive games with mutliple points while tallying his first career hat trick against the Senators. Bergeron was also named NHL's Second Star of thethe week ending on January 16.This successful month has made him the leading scorer on the Bruins with 40 points (16 goals, 24 assists) in 50 games.
