Bruins-Canucks: Five thoughts from the third

VANCOUVERHere are five thoughts from the third period of the Bruins' 1-0 loss to the Canucks in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

1) There were a couple of great stops by Tim Thomas on Jannik Hansen and Maxim Lapierre in the third period, and a fortunate bounce off the crossbar on an Alex Edler bid. The Stanley Cup Final was billed as a war of two elite goaltenders and that's exactly what it was in Game 1.

2) I really don't like Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg getting broken up against the Canucks. Tough to argue against the move in a scoreless game, but the B's were 12-4 in the playoff after putting them together. Tough to argue that...but it gets a lot easier when Johnny Boychuk coughts it up for the game-winner to Raffi Torres.

3) Love the Odds as house band at Rogers Arena playing '70s rock classics to get the crowd going. "Raise a Little Hell" by Trooper is a hockey arena staple.

4) Ryan Kesler was very quiet in Game 1 until making the secondary assist on Torres' goal.

5) Figures in a game where so much attention has been placed on the top lines and top defensemen of both teams that a guy like Raffi Torres scores the goal. All about the role players in the playoffs.
