The Bruins finished off the sweep of their 2016 rookie preseason with a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres rookies at the Prospects Challenge in Buffalo at the First Niagara Center home of the Sabres on Monday night.

Forward prospects Peter Cehlarik and Jake DeBrusk each scored goals for the second game in a row and the Black and Gold prospects never trailed in either of the games against the Devils and Sabres over the past few days.

Cehlarik scored the first goal of the game in the first period, then set up DeBrusk on the power play to give them a commanding lead early in the game. Former Miami University center Sean Kuraly snapped home a shorthanded goal to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes and then the B’s held on for dear life behind goaltender Daniel Vladar from that point forward.

Jesse Gabrielle scored the final goal for the Black and Gold rookies on the power play from Drake Rymsha and Jeremy Lauzon in the second period, and then watched Buffalo close it to a one-goal game in the third period before eventually falling short.

The win over the Sabres prospects closed things out for Bruins rookie camp and now leaves the B’s rookies and veterans preparing for the opening of main training camp with off-ice fitness testing on Thursday.
