BruinsRangers: 5 from the First

CSNNE.comBOSTONHere are five thoughts from the first period with the Bruins trailing the Rangers by a 1-0 score at TD Garden after 20 competitive minutes of hockey.1)Claude Julien was irate on the Bs bench and rightfully so as Michael Sauer was way off-side on the play before his long shot from the right point was tipped by Derek Stepan and skidded past Tuukka Rask. One hundred percent blown call by the refs, and thats exactly the kind of fickle puck bounce thats been the difference between winning and losing for the Bruins when theyve played the Rangers in recent years. Props to follower @MaxMorin on Twitter for providing visual evidence of just how off-side Sauer was before the goal: http:twitpic.com4dkhs32)Excellent seeing Bob Wilson get his just due during a ceremony to dedicate the home radio booth in his name, and he told some great stories before the game about the Stanley Cup years. I remember Wilson on radio, but I was always more of a Bruins on TV guy with Fred Cusick as the soundtrack to all of my Bs viewing growing up. But you could still hear that announcers voice and storytelling spark in Wilson as he spoke with us.3)A little light on the energy front in the first period for the Bruins coming off the big win against Montreal. They need to pick it up in the second period to avoid the dreaded hangover questions.4)No shots for Bostons first line. They need to start getting a little closer to the net and attacking Henrik Lundqvist, who looks good this afternoon if rarely tested.5)Gregory Campbell and Sean Avery go at it on Averys first shift after getting scratched for four straight games. Should be interesting to watch Avery unleashed for the next couple of periods.
