BOSTONHere are five thoughts from the first period with the Bruins and Senators tied at a 1-1 score after the first 20 minutes of play at TD Garden.1)Bobby Butler is making the TD Garden ice his own personal playground in his first game here as an NHL player. Four shots in the first period for the Marlboro, Mass native and former UNH standout, and a couple of close calls stopped by Tim Thomas before he picked up a loose puck for a score at the end of the first period. Butler was a big Bruins fan growing up, so it must feel pretty sweet to taste some success in front of the friends and family crowd at the Garden.2)Daniel Paille has four goals in his last eight games and continues to tighten the grip on one of those fourth line roster spots when the playoffs begin next week. It looks like itll be Montreal or Buffalo, so its possible Paille could be skating against his former team in the first round for the second straight season.3)Claude Julien got a couple of questions about Tyler Seguin before the game and snapped Its not Tyler Seguin Day amid the final flurry of queries. Julien put Seguin in the lineup today and hes playing with speed, but was also caught on the ice for the defensive zone gaffes by Andrew Ference and Shane Hnidy that led to Bostons goal. It sure seems like the coach has made his mind up, but Ill take his word that nothing has been decided.4)Tim Thomas did allow the one goal, but hes hanging in there with a .9373 save percentage after the first period of play against the Senators. Barring a complete and utter breakdown he should still be ahead of Dominik Hasek when the game is over today.5)Another goal for the fourth line today. Somewhere Mike Felger is crying and pounding his fist on a table.
