Friday, August 12: So long, Patrick Roy in Colorado

Share

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while not sure if it’s Michael Phelps or Aquaman I’m watching in these Olympics.

*Patrick Roy is all done as head coach of the Colorado Avalanche, and I can’t say I’m shocked given how sloppy and underachieving the Avalanche were the last couple of seasons. It may be a tough few months, but they’ll be a better hockey club for it.

*The Senators and Cody Ceci are discussing both a bridge contract, and a longer term deal to stay in Ottawa.

*Good piece from FOH (Friend of Haggs) Scott Burnside on Zach Parise looking to rebound from a tough season in the World Cup of Hockey.

*I am pretty underwhelmed by all of the “Hawk iterations” of a name for the expansion Vegas team if that’s the way it goes down.

*PHT writer Sven Baertschi will be living in a cage to raise money for an animal charity prior to training camp with the Canucks.

*Ryan Kennedy from the Hockey News says there are some bad omens for Canada’s junior hockey program right now.

*For something completely different: I have a fever and the only prescription is more Darth Vader in these Rogue One trailers that debuted during the Olympics last night.
