Marchand missing from Bruins practice

WILMINGTON, MA -- Brad Marchand played through yesterdays game as the Bruins' only goal scorer, but he was missing from the practice ice on Tuesday morning prior to the teams flight to New York City for Wednesday's rematch with the Rangers.

The pesky left wing was rocked pretty solidly by an Evander Kane hit in the third period of Bostons shootout win over the Jets, but Marchand appeared to be no worse for wear while speaking after the game.

Yeah, he got me pretty good, was all Marchand said about the Kane hit at the time, but he did have a smile on his face.

Claude Julien said that it was a "maintenance day" for Marchand, and that the forward is expected to play against the Rangers even though he was termed "day-to-day." The maintenance days or "off days" in the hockey parlance are expected to come more often this season with a very busy, condensed schedule.

Instead Jay Pandolfo has donned a yellow practice sweater and is skating on the left wing with Patrice Bergeron and Tyler Seguin in Marchands place. Dennis Seidenberg has also rejoined his Bs teammates after missing Mondays game against Winnipeg and is taking a regular turn going through drills with his Black and Gold teammates.

Rookie Dougie Hamilton is back skating with Seidenberg during the drills and the Bruins coaches have restored the CharaBoychuk pairing at the top of the defensemen groupings.
