McQuaid questionable for Saturday night

CHICAGO -- Adam McQuaid made the trip with the rest of his Bruins teammates to Chicago on Thursday afternoon, one day after slamming his head hard off the end boards at the RBC Center in Raleigh during the B's 3-2 loss to the Hurricanes.

So that part was a positive, but coach Claude Julien wouldnt confirm anything beyond the obvious: McQuaid was pulled from the game with a suspected head injury and was undergoing testing to determine its severity. McQuaid was on the bench for a bit after staggering off the ice, and was only removed for the Quiet Room when a stoppage in play allowed the Bs trainer and player to cross the ice and get to the locker room.

Thats the protocol thats in place and it was addressed properly by the training staff, said Julien. There were no issues there.

The young defenseman looked okay leaving the team hotel on Thursday morning, but he remains a big question mark for Saturday night's game against the Blackhawks.

Hes still being evaluated. We dont have any specifics as we speak, so well keep monitoring him and well go from there, said Julien. Hes with us and hell stay with us going to Chicago, but well see what develops further.

Its being monitored and looked at, and were not 100 percent sure what it is yet.

Some odd wording there, which seems to indicate something is going on that defies an easy explanation.

With McQuaid a question mark against the Blackhawks, it appears Matt Bartkowski will start in his place. David Krejci (core injury) is also out against the Blackhawks, but Julien said not to expect any reinforcement from the Providence Bruins in time for Saturdays game unless calamity happens.
