Monday, March 21: Cinderella and ‘Spacey in Space'

Here are links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading while wishing the Greatest Hockey Player that Ever Lived, Bobby Orr, a happy 68th birthday.

*Larry Brooks with an interesting column on the NHL expansion draft, and the many problems it could cause with different teams around the league.

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) Kevin Paul Dupont has the story of the Cinderella Northeastern University hockey team winning the Hockey East tourney, and getting into the NCAA tourney as a result.

*Braden Holtby has found a kindred spirit in his goaltending coach, and it’s made all the difference in his NHL career.

*The Florida Panthers had a fun weekend of hockey while inviting Kevin Spacey to the Panthers/Wings game to enjoy the “Spacey in Space” theme that has powered Florida all season.

*Ryan Johansen has met expectations with the Nashville Predators since arriving in the trade with Columbus, and the Preds look ready for the playoffs

*It’s hardly business as usual for Steve Stamkos as NHL free agency looms for him following this playoff run in Tampa.

*For something completely different: it certainly sounds like Fidel Castro had a lot of irons on the stove while oppressing people in Cuba for decades.
