Rask, Vatrano may play tonight for Bruins

NEW YORK – When it was all said and done at Wednesday’s morning skate at Madison Square Garden, Tuukka Rask appeared ready to go and Frank Vatrano appeared ready to jump back into the lineup for the Bruins against the Rangers.

Rask was the first goalie off the ice for the B’s at morning skate while all three goaltenders took part in the practice and Joe Morrow, Zach Trotman, Brett Connolly and Tyler Randell were on the ice for extra skating denoting their status as healthy scratches.

Claude Julien said after practice he hadn’t yet checked in on how Rask was feeling Wednesday morning, so that isn’t quite set in stone for the Black and Gold.

That means Jimmy Hayes and Vatrano are both likely in the lineup for the Black and Gold, and that the 22-year-old rookie might be starting game on the fourth line. That could be subject to change depending on how the forward lines perform coming out of the starting gate against the Blueshirts and how Vatrano looks in his second stint with the Bruins after exploding for 23 goals and 37 points in 23 AHL games in Providence.

Here are the Bruins projected line combos and D-pairings against the Rangers based on the morning skate:

Eriksson-Krejci-Pastrnak

Marchand-Bergeron-Stempniak

Beleskey-Spooner-Hayes

Vatrano-Acciari-Ferraro

Chara-K. Miller

Liles-Seidenberg

Krug-McQuaid
