EL SEGUNDO, CAAfter having his head slammed off the glass at Pepsi Arena against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, Marc Savard flew back to Boston from Denver and will be evaluated by doctors on Monday.

Savard's meetings with the medical staff was confirmed by general manager Peter Chiarelli in a text message Sunday.

Savard was injured after colliding with Matt Hunwick in an exposed position and slammed his head against the glass in the second period, and was in obvious pain as he rolled around on the ice holding the side of his face. Its been a long road back for No. 91 after suffering the worst concussion of his career last spring on a cheap shot elbow from Penguins winger Matt Cooke. He had been back less than two months when the hit went down in the corner in Colorado.Savard flew home with assistant equipment manager Mat Falconer, and will likely be undergoing tests for another concussion after the hit. Coach Claude Julien was hopeful following Saturdays game that it was only a minor injury with Savard. In the wake of Savard's injury, Julien has re-teamed the trio of David Krejci, Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic on Boston's top line. Those three were very productive early in the season during Savard's absence.Joe Haggerty can be reached at jhaggerty@comcastsportsnet.com.Follow Joe on Twitter at http:twitter.comHackswithHaggs
