LAS VEGASThe Bruins will have a worthy opponent watching them when they go through their Stanley Cup ring ceremony to begin next season.

According to a hockey source, the Bruins will play their first home game on Oct. 6 against the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden.

That means the team that authored the collapse of 2009-10 will be on hand to watch the Bruins collect their Stanley Cup rings, raise the new championship banner and have one last party before their new hockey year begins.

The regular-season schedule will be released by the league on Thursday at 2 p.m.
