Stanley Cup Finals to begin Wednesday

The Bruins don't get a whole lot of time to savor their Game 7 victory over the Lightning.

They'll soon be heading out to Vancouver, where they'll spend next week playing Games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Game 1 will be played Wednesday, and Game 2 will be played on Saturday, June 4.

The Stanley Cup Finals, alone among the major sports that use a seven-game series to determine their championship, is a 2-2-1-1-1 format. (Both MLB and the NBA use a 2-3-2 format for their finals.) So Games 3 and 4 will be played in Boston, and then, if necessary, the series returns to TD Garden for Game 6.

The complete schedule:

Game 1: Wednesday, June 1 @ Vancouver, 8 p.m. (NBC)
Game 2: Saturday, June 4 @ Vancouver, 8 p.m. (NBC)
Game 3: Monday, June 6 @ Boston, 8 p.m. (Versus)
Game 4: Wednesday, June 8 @ Boston, 8 p.m. (Versus)
Game 5: Friday, June 10 @ Vancouver, 8 p.m. (NBC)
Game 6: Monday, June 13 @ Boston, 8. pm. (NBC)
Game 7: Wednesday, June 15 @ Vancouver, 8 p.m. (NBC)
