Tim Thomas recorded his ninth shutout of the season with 32 saves, and the Bruins defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 3-0 on Tuesday night at the TD Garden.

The Bs took a 2-0 lead into the third period, thanks to second-period goals from Zdeno Chara and Johnny Boychuk.

Chara put the Bruins up 1-0 with eight minutes left in the second, when his low wrister from the left point re-directed off Chicago defenseman Brian Campbell and ended up in the back of the net.

Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford looked equally as confused when Boychuks slapper from the right point knuckled under his glove and into the net for a 2-0 Bruins lead with just five-and-a-half minutes left in the period.

Nathan Horton made it 3-0 five minutes into the third period, after faking a shot in the slot and deking to the right, where he promptly finished the goal and the game.
