Tuesday, March 29: Preds angry at Vesey

*Marc Spector has the Oilers and Nail Yakupov never getting off to the proper start they needed, and now a divorce is imminent.

*Jimmy Vesey and his advisors got ripped by GM Dave Poile and the Nashville Predators on Monday for opting not to sign with the Predators team that drafted him many moons ago. Boohoo. GM’s do this kind of thing to players all the time, and they don’t pull the crybaby soup act like Poile did in a public rant. Clearly it’s a tough spot for their organization, but he didn’t do anything outside of his rights as an NCAA draft pick. Vesey, the Harvard standout and North Reading native by way of Charlestown, is well within his rights to forego signing with the team that drafted him, and then instead choose where he’s going to start his NHL career. It started with Blake Wheeler and the Bruins almost 10 years ago, and it continues now. The leader in the clubhouse for Vesey’s services? It has to be the Maple Leafs team that hired his father as a scout, and drafted his brother Nolan in the 2014 NHL Draft. Just a hunch there, so perhaps the Bruins still hold an outside shot at signing him as well.

*Amanda Kessel has finished up her collegiate career in style, and has her sights set on Olympic gold now.

*Brenden Morrow shares his memories, stories and advice from all his years of NHL experience now that he’s retiring.

*A comprehensive list of college hockey alums leaving the NCAA this spring, and the pro teams that they’ve signed with.

*The New York Times has produced some sealed emails between NHL officials discussing concussions and fighting, and the link between the two of them.

*New York Islanders coach Jack Capuano wants his injury-plagued Islanders to get more credit than they’re receiving right now.

*Dustin Brown’s leadership with the Los Angeles Kings has been tested through a trying period, but the Kings look right back on course again.

*For something completely different: I’m on the same wavelength as Alan Sepinwall when it comes to last night’s Flash/Supergirl crossover, and his feelings on the Zack Snyder movies, including Batman vs. Superman, made with the DC superheroes.
