Al Horford (groin) ‘not quite 100 percent,' will miss game vs. Magic

BOSTON – Injuries continue to force Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens to shuffle around his starting lineup.

The latest change is courtesy of a groin injury to Al Horford that will keep him out of tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic.

Without Horford, Boston’s starting five will consist of Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Jaylen Brown, Jonas Jerebko and Amir Johnson.

Earlier tonight, Stevens said Horford “feels a lot better than the last two days.”

Horford went through a workout this morning and felt “really good but not quite 100 percent,” Stevens said.

The good news is that Horford’s injury doesn’t appear to be serious, which is why he will travel with the team for their Saturday night game at Milwaukee.

Stevens said Horford was probable for the Bucks game.

“With the stretch we’re in combined with it being a muscular injury, we wanted to make sure he gets well first,” Stevens said.

For Horford, this will be his 11th game missed this season – nine due to a concussion and a 10th to be with his wife for the birth of their second child.

This season, he has averaged 15.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
