Allen's status for Game 6 remains up in the air

WALTHAMThere's still no word on whether Ray Allen and that gimpy right ankle of his will be on the floor tonight for Game 1 of Boston's second-round series against Philadelphia.

Allen at least participated in the team's morning shoot-around which is somewhat encouraging.

As has been the case with Allen, the true litmus test won't come until hours before tip-off when he arrives at the TD Garden and goes through his usual pre-game routine which consists of several shooting and running drills.

While Allen remains hopeful that he can play, he's been through enough ups and downs with his ankle in recent weeks to where he has no choice but to focus on the moment when it comes to his availability.

Addressing the media on Friday, Allen said the ankle was "unstable" and added that he, "didn't have that comfortability, that maneuverability on the floor. Once I'm out there, I do what I can to help the team."

It was clear that the ankle was a problem in Boston's series-clinching Game 6 win over Atlanta on Thursday, a game in which Allen struggled to get free and missed six of seven shots from the field and was just 4-for-6 from the free throw line.
Allen, like the rest of us, won't know for sure if he'll go tonight until the very last minute.

"This whole week and a half, I've been so day-to-day and I've had some great days," Allen said on Friday. "Now I'm back to where I was two weeks ago."
