Camp Rondo gets underway in Louisville
As the Boston Celtics rebuild for the future, Rajon Rondo is helping youths prepare for their own.
Ready to learn
This week the Celtics point guard is hosting the first session of the 2013 Camp Rondo, a basketball program for boys and girls ages 6 through 16 held at the MidAmerica Sportscenter in Rondo’s hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
Fun and games
During the camp Rondo, who is recovering from an ACL injury, speaks to participants, signs autographs, and even competes against them in another game he has mastered – Connect Four. Doug Bibby, Rondo’s high school coach, is among those who also assist Rondo in instructing the campers.
Special guests are expected stop by Camp Rondo, including University of Louisville guard Russ Smith and University of Kentucky forward Willie Cauley-Stein. Session 1 of Camp Rondo runs July 8-12, session 2 will be held July 15-19. Campers receive a Camp Rondo t-shirt and arm band, autograph and photo session with Rondo, and an opportunity to win a pair of tickets to a Celtics game next season.
